Journey South - part 1

Note:
I have a week since he came back from mototrip, the text wrote almost every day during the trip, so will post in the written sequence grouped within 1-2 days.

Training

How long does it take to get ready in the long haul, with no bike to do this, no experience of dolnakov or Schengen? Were available only a great desire to go somewhere and not less fatigue.

In my case it took three weeks.

Was an ordinary Monday in the style of the work-house, the evening standard stuck at the computer, and suddenly flashed the thought: “fuck it all ... I will go on dalnyak“. As I remember, opened google maps, figured where it will be warm and not so rainy. On Tuesday and Wednesday gathered information, insurance, and on Thursday applied for a Greek Schengen. Friday morning my friend went to Kharkov for Yamaha Tenere 660 2009.

The next week was suddenly snow, and only after it I was able to make a few forays into the city in order to get at least some skills of urban Biking. City drive gave a lot of impressions! Before this season I skated kawasaki klx 250 purely through forests and shit, where suddenly ran across the road and cut only the trees and bushes. When you drive over 4 years on a bike like that keener sense of “strangeness” of behaviour of some individuals.

Four days before the start of welled on the mote, a little pornov steering wheel and bumpers, but there was no time — the wheel was equal to a sledgehammer, arc in a vise, and roasted semi-automatic. The day turned out to be that burned out left rear turn signal lamp, the same yellow there was a twisted white.

Am I worried before day X? Of course, probably like everyone else. A million thoughts — but if so, and if so, and suddenly, well, in General why is it all necessary, sat'd be stuck as a computer and not worry about anything.

Day 1

Saturday (April 29) was not yet seven in the morning, as I Packed and loaded. Left town with it the first time loaded with bags and 15 minutes got to the highway Zaporozhye.

After a while, there was a strange condition, you move in the head, just emptiness. Even half an hour ago there was a bunch of garbage thoughts in my head, and then suddenly became clear. It's an incredible feeling! Just go, look forward, to the sides. And they're coming.

I have traveled a lot by car, but I think my words will confirm not only on the bike a completely different perception. On the machine you are moving from point a to point B, and you're trying to move as quickly as possible, not particularly noticing everything. By eating on two wheels, comes the realization that the movement itself is an integral part of your trip that you want to cherish and enjoy, and not try to cut all ways.

The original route was conceived like this:
The Dnieper — Odessa (overnight to two days), then look for the weather — either “up” in Brasov, Sibiu or “down“ to the Bucharest — Sofia and then Greece.

The road to Odessa is unremarkable, arrived in the city around 9 PM, I thought “well, cars should be smaller“. How wrong I was! Odessa and Kharkov, are famous for the “culture” of driving. In the end, after hours driving in the evening city I'm tired, probably more than all the way.

The next day was dedicated strictly to recreation and exploring, before it was in Odessa several times, but only now been fully on the market, went with his brother to the flea market and walked along the route of health.

Day 3

Left Odessa at seven in the morning and there were just 320 km road is incredibly diverse — from sites where going 40 miles an hour in the rack for the hard bendoro to svezhenanesennogo asphalt and vtaplivaniem in a straight 140. In the end, on the Moldavian border arrived only hour of the day without weak tired.

the steppe of Bessarabia

Because in the Odessa region there is no border crossing with Romania, this is the case: after all standard procedures, a stamp in the passport, you get to Moldova, passing 500 meters back to the border, all procedures, a stamp in the passport wiegele with Moldova and get to the Romanian border. Queue really was not, but everything was done. In Romania we stopped only three in the afternoon.

And there Kyivstar presented with an unpleasant surprise — there was no connection, No service and all. Something like perezarazhenie on the map managed to get to the center of the border town of Galati, to perehodnoi, lunch and moving on. It is worth noting that in Galati Danube perfectly cooked fish, if possible be sure to try.

In the restaurant, the Internet did not really work, mobile communication also did not appear. Writing the desired city, went on the signs. 200 km from Ploiesti passed quickly enough. And then problem number 2, the link appeared, but the Internet still was not even activated the “Free, ronning”. The last 100 km took more than two hours — the road passes through the Carpathians and a bunch of small villages, the constant switchbacks and the line of cars. First experience with switchbacks was unforgettable! “Bricks” I put the number as small factory produces per shift.

Fortunately, in Odessa have downloaded the offline map Brasov in CityMaps2Go. Arrived, got the quest make your way through the night the old town to the street when all around are narrow and one way.
In the end, about ten in the evening came to the hotel.

Future travelers to work online in Romney at Kyivstar, you need to register apn  and enable data roaming, but it still does not guarantee that it will work! It can be turned off at the most inopportune moment, in this case you need to send a request a call from support by the code *105*466#, will get back to You with a special number where incoming calls are not charged. There is already possible to Express what I think about them.

Day 4

The day was devoted to rest from the road and exploring the city. Brasov is the second city in Romania after Bucharest and this is evident throughout the center clean, on the road markings, signs everywhere, lawns, shrubs trimmed.

The historical centre is not as big as in the same Sibiu, but to me it was very much in spirit.

Tourists will have a certain amount, but there is such an influx, as an example in Milan or Amsterdam where you literally have to work with their elbows, wading in tople.

Overall, Brasov has become for me a city of discovery, in which you want to return again and again. If you do not look for it any unreal beautiful monuments or places. He's just a nice and cozy where you can sit on the summer terrace of the cafe on the square and slowly watching everything from the outside.

In the next part: trip to bran at "Dracula's castle", which is not quite Dracula, unsuccessful assault on transalpina road and much more...
